One hundred years ago, Albert Einstein’s theory of general relativity predicted the existence of gravitational waves. Now, new generation of gravitational-wave detectors are coming online, and are expected to detect strong sources of gravitational waves in the near future.
The 2015 Gravitational Wave Physics and Astronomy Workshop (GWPAW) will take place at Osaka, Japan, from 17th to 20th June. The workshop focuses not only on gravitational waves themselves, but also on the physics, astrophysics and astronomy that can be derived from gravitational-wave observations and their counterpart/follow-up observations. The workshop was formerly known as the Gravitational Wave Data Analysis Workshop (GWDAW). This year we will emphasize the science that will be derived from gravitational-wave data analysis and counterpart studies.
