Workshop on the LIGO-Virgo Electromagnetic Follow-up program

Cascina, European Gravitational Observatory site

 The workshop will be held on Thursday April 23, 2015, hosted by the European Gravitational Observatory, at the Virgo site (Cascina, Pisa). It will be open to all LVC members and the astronomer partners involved in the LIGO-Virgo electromagnetic follow-up program. The workshop aims at  discussing  the plans to send out alerts during the first LIGO-Virgo observing runs (in particular the next one, O1). The program of the workshop will include: the status of the advanced detectors, an overview of the low-latency transient searches, and the definition, generation and transmission of gravitational wave alerts. Partner astronomers will have the possibility to illustrate the status of their projects to follow up gravitational-wave candidates. A large part of the workshop will be devoted to open discussion.

 The registration deadline is fixed to March 15, 2015. Registration will be limited to 70 people on the basis of the meeting room capacity. 

It will be possible to connect remotely. Also for remote participation, it will be necessary to register at the above website before the deadline so that login and password can be provided.
