First Announcement

The 11th Amaldi Conference on gravitational waves will be held in Gwangju, Korea under the auspices of the Gravitational Wave International Committee (GWIC), which oversees the scientific program for the meeting.

Amaldi conference takes place in Korea for the first time, after being held in Warsaw, Poland (2013), Cardiff, UK (2011), New York City, USA (2009), Sydney, Australia (2007), Okinawa, Japan (2005), Pisa, Italy (2003) and Perth, Australia (2001). In collaboration with GWIC we will try to cover full range of gravitational wave science from various types of current and future detectors, data analysis, to astrophysical sources.

Gwangju is located in the south west of Korea, and can be reached by airlines, trains, or express buses from major cities in Korea. Gwangju is known as a city of democracy and culture. The name of the city literally means city of light. It may be just a coincidence, but Gwangju played a central role in the development of fiber based communication in Korea.

The conference will be held at the Kimdaejung (KDJ) Convention Center (http://www.kdjcenter.or.kr/eng/) which is named after Mr. Kim Dae Jung, the 8thPresident of Korea and Nobel Peace Laureate in 2000.
