Responsibilities:
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professorship in the area of numerical simulations and theory of Supernovae, X-Ray Bursts, Gamma-Ray Bursts, and/or Luminous Transients, starting August 2016. While we expect to make an appointment at the assistant professor level, exceptionally qualified candidates may be considered for a more senior position. The successful candidate is expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate astronomy and astrophysics and establish a vigorous research program.
Required Qualifications:
(All levels) Ph.D. in physics, astronomy or a related field. Candidates are expected to have an established record in large-scale numerical simulations, theory and modeling of such phenomena.
(Associate) Three years of experience.
(Full) Five years of experience.
Preferred Requirements:
(Assistant) Postdoctoral research experience is desired.
(Associate) Successful service as an assistant professor; strong national reputation.
(Full) Successful service as an associate professor or equivalent; strong international reputation; demonstrated excellence in teaching, research, and/or other scholarly activity in physics, astronomy or a related field.
